Does Your Brain Like Your Fitness Routine?

Trust me, I have asked myself this question about one million times. "Do I want to do this workout?" "Do I really want another salad?" And the one thing I have come to realize is that whenever I ask myself this question, the answer is a loud, resounding NO! This usually means that I have outgrown my workout or the meals I have been favoriting lately, and I might even need to adjust my mentality here.
This is the part where most people tend to fall off and go into limbo.
"What do I do now?"

Take a step back and breathe for a minute.
You may feel like you have tried everything to get to where you want to be? You've tried every fitness program and every diet. Keto made you angry and the no-fat diet killed your muscle definition. But... No matter what you do, you can't seem to stick with anything.
There is a reason!
Welcome to the world of "nothing works unless you get your mind right." Yep! I said it. The mind is the key to getting your butt in gear. Once you conquer that, you have conquered your entire wellness journey and your entire life.
"Stop wasting time with tons of different workout and nutrition programs and figure out what makes you tick."
What makes you want to get up and do your workout in the morning or eat your carefully prepared breakfast? Do you know what you really like or what get's you going deep down inside?
Most people don't. And guess what... It's not your fault!
There are so many, in fact, too many fitness and nutrition programs out there to choose from. There are loads and loads of pages with real advices and fake news and to be honest no one wants to sit there and go through it all to figure out what is real.
This is where your #intuition comes in...
You are the expert on you. No one can tell you exactly what you feel on the inside and how things in life affect you. Only you can do that. That is the beauty of being you! Your #fitnessintuition is what is going to save you time and effort on the way to getting the body and life you desire.
How?
I'm glad you asked. This is a practice I have used ten times over to get myself motivation once I have fallen off the wellness bandwagon (yes, it happens to fitness professionals too). The one thing that always brings my back to life is fun, success, and my mental wellbeing. The #joyfultrifecta These three things in combination are the key to living a balanced life. We have enough negativity and hardship in the world and in our brains but the Joyful Trifecta brings about balance and clarity. So when I need to get back into gear or stay in gear and simply transition to fit my new wellness interests, I follow my intuition. I get down and deep with these five practices.
Spend time thinking about your real goals. - Feel in your body, mind, and spirit what will really make you feel accomplished. That looks different for everybody. Someone could feel accomplished with a few pounds off and doing that by walking. Some could feel accomplished by eating more vegetables and getting healthier that way. Whatever you come up with is valid and yours so allow it to take up space in your life. This is the beginning of doing something for you! And remember, no unrealistic goals allowed!
Make them concrete. - Nothing is real until you write it down. That is our motto for all intents and purposes right now. Make it real in your head and put it in writing. This process primes your brain for the activities that come along with making this new leg of your wellness journey, a reality and internally keeps you accountable.
Set your space up for success. - I'm not just talking about your physical space, although that is important. You do want to make sure your home and areas around you are conducive to your success. But even more important than that, set up your mental space for success. I have found this to be monumental in changing the way I approach a goal and move on my wellness journey. Take time to meditate in the morning and at night to keep your head clear and mental balance. Surround yourself with encouraging thoughts (I write them on sticky notes and leave them around my home), people, and media. This is important. You don't want anything rocking your boat here so keeping your psyche healthy and positive is very important.
Allow yourself to experiment. - There are millions of ways for anything in life to play out. Same thing goes for you and your wellness journey. Be open to different avenues that may arise on your wellness journey. You may end up trying a new superfood or workout that makes you feel awesome... Go with it! This is the feeling we are all after, BLISS! Staying flexible will allow that to happen. Think of it this way. Anything rigid, if bent, will break. Anything malleable, if bent, will create a new and interesting shape. I love that, actually! NEW MOTTO ALERT!
HAVE FUN! Period. - If you are having fun, you'll notice that life opens up for you in the most beautiful, unexpected and unexplainable ways. That is what makes life interesting! If something is fun for you, go with it and stay with it and keep adding to it allowing it to bring you even more joy. This is a forgotten concept when it comes to fitness but it is the main driver when it comes to life. If you make it your business to have fun in every aspect of your life, especially wellness, you'll see how things change and quickly.
So when you ask yourself "Does my fitness routine actually work?" What comes to mind? Are you happy in your wellness journey or even in your life journey? Do you wake up ready and happy to get started in your day? If that's not the case then maybe it's time to take a step back and figure out what it is that you really want. When you look back over your life, you'll see that life is short and time tends to move rather quickly. So don't spend another day doing something you hate. Fitness does not have to be a chore and if you feel that it is then it's about time you spend however long it takes to get yourself on the right path for you.
I hope this quick little guide helps you unlock your authority over yourself. Remember, you are the expert on your mind and body.
